On the Monday morning field trip, we will visit two sites: Pulliam Prairie (a tallgrass prairie remnant in Chickasaw County) and Prairie Wildlife (a cattle, rowcrop, and natural resource enterprise with an emphasis on conservation in Clay County). The field trip session will be led by Mississippi Dept of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks, Mississippi State University, and local Quail Forever personnel. Learn about Mississippi’s Black Belt Prairie region and its conservation and management. Lunch will be provided for participants.
Monday, July 29: Drone Workshop, 1:30 pm-5:30 pm
The Monday afternoon drone workshop will be conducted while quail coordinators are meeting. It will offer participants that are not in the coordinators’ meeting an opportunity to learn about an increasingly prevalent technology in wildlife management. Sponsored by Wildlife Drones, the workshop will be led by personnel from NBGI and Wildlife Drones. A short classroom-style session will be followed by a field demonstration at the North Mississippi Research and Extension Center just down the road in Verona.
Tuesday, July 30: Meadery Visit, 6 pm-8 pm
Queen’s Reward is a meadery located in Tupelo that uses Mississippi honey to produce their meads. This Tuesday evening trip to the meadery will include an overview of the production process and a tasting. Additional products are available to purchase from the meadery.
